Alan E. Smith has been involved with contemporary and antique furniture and accessories his entire life. He has a master’s degree in furniture design and construction and has created custom pieces for many individuals and companies. He fells and slabs many trees per year, which are then airdry (sometimes) for years and are sold as planks or used to create his furniture. He has also been associated with antiques and vintage furniture and accessories on many different levels.
He had a Mexican Folk Art store in Santa Monica, California. His store was written up in the New York Times and the Chicago Tribune, as well as in the Los Angeles times. The store imported the finest and most unique Mexican Folk Art available. The store also dealt with antique Mexican and Spanish colonial furniture and religious artifacts. It also had a wholesale division, one of the most popular items being the Mexican Church candles he manufactured and imported from Patzcuaro, Michoacan, Mexico – a popular item in the movie industry. In addition to his current inventory, he recently acquired an estate of antique Spanish and French antiques, which you can view many of these pieces here. We have just begun to create our website AES Antiques and are adding things every week.
Having practiced as an interior designer, with his own design studio for 20 years, Alan can create a custom designed hand-crafted piece or connect you to the unique antique or vintage piece that your home calls for. There are many more antiques and contemporary pieces available. You can reach out to us and make an appointment for viewing or schedule a consultation for a custom piece at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you.
